Dearest New Deal for NY supporters-
Coming off this morning’s Buffalo News editorial in support of the extension of the Millionaires Tax, we’ve started to compile similar editorials from around the state.

New Deal for New York has long been looking at how the Committee to Scam Save NY is pushing for tax cuts for the richest 1% and service and job cuts for everyone else. We’ve worked with allies to do research on who they are and how they game the system. We’ve filed ethics complaints about their activities. We’ve visited them at their parties, at their homes, and this Thursday we may visit even them in Albany.
Make your voice heard by New York’s Austerity Mongers: lobbyists who would rather see a child go homeless and a teacher fired than see their friends in the 1% pay their fair share in taxes. Find a new friend below and fill them in on what you think they need to hear. Share your special story with someone who has our Governor’s ear. Here are two ways you can get your story to them.
Option 1: Pen Pals- Make your voice heard by New York’s Austerity cheerleaders who relentlessly push tax cuts for Corporate CEOs who increasingly ship American jobs overseas. Find a new friend below and fill them in on what you think they need to hear. Share your special story with someone who has our Governor’s ear.
Option 2: Best Friends Forever- If you’re feeling even more generous, why not reach out in a more creative way? Click on the name of your brand new BFF below, then read the instructions and examples to get inspired. Maybe your Austerity Monger needs some kind words, or maybe an intervention. Most importantly, use your imagination!
OK, we’re not really writing the President’s jobs speech. But, our allies at the Center for Working Families suggested via Twitter today that we should write the jobs speech he is expected to deliver after Labor Day and we think that’s a great idea — but we want your help!
New Deal for New York is a coalition of independent, grassroots community groups around the state working together to develop an innovative jobs program that would position New York as the nation’s leader in state-level efforts combating unemployment and ensure critical public services are maintained. We held a protest outside Governor Cuomo’s office today urging him to invest in jobs and preserving public services by extending the millionaire’s tax.
